When I am in the office, I often have many stacks of papers all over the place. Even after being organized into topics, they are scattered on the floor, the desk, and on anything else in the room. But I eventually get caught up with things and have a cleaner than normal desktop. The picture below is a memorial to the latest time that happened.

What you may notice in this picture is the second monitor. I have heard about people having more than one monitor on their desk. I know someone who has a separate monitor just to keep track of fleet vehicles via a GPS tracker. This is a new setup for me, so the idea may evolve as time goes by. At the moment, I plan to keep work items on the large monitor and to use the other for personal things. For instance, I am using it for listening to news or music while working.
Something that has helped me recently, is having two printers. There are times when I need to print out large files with over 45 pages. Having a second printer gives me the opportunity to keep working on other projects simultaneously. Note that they are both HP printers which are enrolled in instant ink. When enrolled, HP charges me 3 cents per page (color or black) and mails me OEM ink cartridges as needed. It has worked out well and I highly recommend it.
