After scrubbing the car today, it became clear that the rust is getting worse. In the picture here you can barely see the rust on the bottom of the front fender. But more has appeared on the trunk lid, the rear passenger rear wheel well, and a variety of other little spots. I hope to have some of the rust fixed this spring or summer but there are several other needs at the moment.
The differential bearings have been howling for the past year or so. I had the right side replaced already but the noise continues. Ross, one of the mechanics at Motorwerks Imports in Painesville, thinks its the left differential bearing that’s the problem. With the car up on the lift, he heard the sound coming from the left side. So, that is going to be my major project but not the only one on my mind right now.
The heater control panel is still not working correctly. When turned on, all the lights turn red but nothing really happens. A Jaguar mechanic suggested replacing the problem part inside the unit but after researching things I found a new climate panel for $199 at Jagbits.com. And I found a 5% coupon code at JaguarForums.com. That saved me another $10. I hope the new unit fixes the heater problem.
If all goes well I will keep the Sovereign for a while longer. If not, we’ll see…
Andy-I came across an old photo you posted of an XJ-S pickup conversion. Do you know where I could get some info on this car?
By the way I own a Jaguar Eventer.
Many thanks,
Dan
