The SAAB 9-7x is one of my favorite SUVs. A lot of people have complained that it was just a Chevy Trailblazer with the key in between the seats. But after driving the Trailblazer, Buick Rainer, and GMC Envoy, I’m pretty sure those people have never experienced the difference. The SAAB 9-7x may share some of the underpinnings and shape, but it is definitely a better vehicle than any of the others. SAAB’s design team did a wonderful job of making this SUV worthy of the SAAB name. It is a fabulous vehicle inside and out.
My only complaint is that I have not experienced the Aero model. I pass one every day in Mentor on the way to work. But as of yet, I have only driven the 4.2i (290 hp I-6) and 5.3i (300 hp V8) models. The Aero model (2008-09) was special in that it had GM’s phenomenal 390 hp LS2 6.0L V8. With a tighter suspension and 90 more horsepower, you can imagine that the Aero model is a fun drive. But just how fast is it? Watch the following video to find out.
