Congratulations to Richard Nofsinger for correctly identifying Mystery Car 88 on facebook. Mystery Car 88 is none other than a 2010 Porsche Panamera 4S. What an interesting car! The Panamera is the first sedan ever produced by Porsche (although there were thoughts of stretching the 911 during the 70’s.)
However … now that I’ve had one sitting 15 feet from my office for the last week or so, I have mixed feeling about the car. The car definitely catches your eye. But the more I look at it, the more I scratch my head. Follow the front end round to the back and you’ll do the same. The rear end doesn’t seem to work well with this car. They should have made it more of a boat tail. Instead, they made a blob.
Then there’s the interior. Don’t get me wrong. The interior is very nice. But the center console is bigger then any I’ve ever seen. It’s almost as if they were trying to fill in the space between the seats and filled it with a kitchen table. It’s that wide! (Well … maybe not that wide, but you get the point.) With an MSRP of $109,000, this is one of those cars that I won’t be driving home any time soon. And, in my opinion, not many people will fall in love with it until Porsche smooths out some of these design oddities.
