It’s been a busy week at the dealership as we are preparing for the Grand Opening of our renovated Mercedes-Benz facilities. So, I’m a bit late with the answer to Mystery Car 84. What drew me to this car was its orange paint and (as Eggs pointed out) its curved windshield. For many of you, this was a very easy one to guess. Yes, Mystery Car 84 is a 1974 SAAB 99.
The SAAB 99 (1968-1984) was a radical departure from the upside down Swedish bathtub era. And it is to be noted as the first SAAB to be offered with a turbo. But for someone like me who started with the Classic SAAB 900, the 99 is a bit different in a backward sort of way. It looks like the 900 but not quite.
If you are interested in an orange SAAB 99, the one in the above picture is listed for sale on www.saabnet.com.
