In the late 70’s I was still in elementary school and wore plaid pants (some things haven’t changed). Back then we carpooled to school and looked for “cool” cars as we traveled up I-71 to Northside Christian in Westerville. Most of us were interested in fast cars like the Chevy Camaro Z28 and the Porsche 928. But this one never made my list of favorites despite its cool styling. In fact, I don’t recall ever seeing one around town. Hmm… maybe that’s because the car was never marketed in the US? Sounds like a clue. Can you guess Mystery Car 78?

Citroen SM?
I’m impressed at your guess, Katrina. But that’s not what it is.
It’s either an Aston-Martin that I don’t recognize, or it’s a Reliant Scimitar that someone modified (could be a very late production facelift??). Classic British shooting brake, 90% certainty that it’s a UK marque.
Well, re-reading, I don’t think that it was the Aston-Martin because you say that it was never marketed in the US, which I believe rules out the V8 Vantage, which is what I’d have guessed. I suppose that leaves the Reliant.
The answer will be posted Friday.
