Dad keeps saying that mom keeps driving the Volvo instead of her Nissan Altima. (See I told you he likes the Volvo.) So, in the back of my mind I’ve been wondering if she would ever trade in the Nissan on something like another used Volvo. Today as I was taking pictures of a newer trade-in, the same thought appeared. This 1998 Volvo C70 Coupe with only 70k miles might just do the job. Except for the fact that it’s a coupe, this would be the perfect car for mom (that and the turbo-charger). But then mom does like fast cars…

That’s a great find, Andy! It’s a very desirable car because of the low mileage, because it’s the first-year model (different engine management system means more tunable and no electronic throttle issues) in a rare paint color (think The Saint!), and it has the highly unusual and appealing two-tone interior. It’s interesting/odd that this example has the 2003-’04 C70 convertible’s “jewel” front corner lamps, but not the matching jewel headlamps. My unsolicited advice is to mount the summer alloys for a new set of dealership photos, because the bigger wheels really give C70 Coupes their visual punctuation. (I thought my C70 looked pretty humble the winter I ran it on 15-inch snows with hubcaps- the 17″ alloys make the car!)
I’d suggest that you have your Mom give it a test drive…
I think you are right about the wheels. The last C70 of this vintage we had at the dealership had the beautiful wheels you mentioned. So, once winter is over, we’ll switch back to the nicer rims.
