After driving SAABs for the last ten years, it has been an adjustment for me to start driving a Volvo wagon. Don’t get me wrong. I like Volvo automobiles and enjoy driving my wagon. It’s just that the same camaraderie hasn’t happened amongst local Volvo owners as was developed at Trollhattan SAAB and SAABS United. So, when I walked out of Office Max in Mentor and saw this XC70 parked next to my wagon, I had to take a picture.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but that may be the closest I’m going to get to a local Volvo club in the Cleveland area. The Buckeye Volvo Club seems to be the “local” chapter of the Volvo Club of America and are located a mere 2 1/2 hours in Columbus, Ohio. They did visit the Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum two years ago, but their recent events have been centered in the Columbus area. Somehow, I don’t think that’s going to work. I guess I’ll just keep parking next to Volvos whenever I go shopping. Sigh.
There’s a Renault club here in Bogota. Every so often we see about 7 of the old ones lined up in a parking lot on the way home from church. Of course, I don’t have my camera with me…
When I had the Jaguar, I would take it to KMart for the car show after work on Saturdays. It was a fun time to look at the old cars. It was there that I met a pastor who was passing out literature to the people showing their cars. The flier was an invitation to a cruise-in at his church. He used it as a “bridge” to meet people and tell them about Jesus.
