We bought our first SAAB in 2001 when Katie was born. It was a 1988 900 8-valve with a 5-speed manual. The car lot had covered up the rust on the bottoms of the doors with a sheet of metal and painted over it. Nonetheless, we enjoyed that car immensely. Jefferson and I camped in the back for the father-son retreat one year and we traveled all over creation in it. So, when I saw this 1993 SAAB 900S for sale on Craigslist, I was quite interested.
Trenton and I drove from Painesville to Parma Heights to check it out this evening. It wasn’t in terrible shape. But it did have the usual problems needing to be fixed: falling headliner, rusty door bottoms & hood, missing trunk lock, and what seemed to be a sealed moon roof. I think this would be a good first car for someone. And it wouldn’t be too bad as a daily driver. But knowing my curiosity and desire to fix things, I’d probably end up sinking a boat load of money into it. Sometimes you just have to say no.
