After 3 1/2 months of travel together, we bid adieu to our little green Volvo. It was a nice wagon with lots of amenities like heated seats, power glass moonroof, and the zippy turbo engine. However, there are some things that I won’t miss at all. This was one of those cars that seemed to have saved all of its repairs just for me. (How nice.) During the time that we owned it, I replaced a wheel bearing hub, CV axle, smog pump, cut off valve, and a it still had a few items to be addressed. Don’t get me wrong. I understand that a certain amount of maintenance is to be expected with any vehicle. However, emptying my savings account every three months is not my idea of a good time.
In any event, the new owner seems happy with his purchase and I am back to driving a demo from the dealership. Tonight I brought home a 2011 Volvo S40 T5. It’s not a permanent replacement, though. Due to the fact that I just renewed my license plates for another year (and the fact that I enjoy having my own car despite the maintenance issues), I will be looking to replace the Volvo with something unique next week. I’ve been communicating with a fellow in the Akron area about an inexpensive car that seems to be just right. But I’m not going to let the cat out of the bag just yet. For now, it will just be another Mystery Car. Care to guess?
