Every so often, Hemmings blog will post a list of cars under $5000 that seem like a good deal. There is always a variety of interesting options. However, for those who have a lower budget, what can be found for $2000 or less within 60 miles of Willard, Ohio?
Last year, we purchased our 2004 Volvo XC90 for $2000 and it is still, thankfully, running well. God continues to provide for our needs. However, with the prospect of sending two children to college next year, I am wondering what might be an option for them to take with them.
2004 BMW 325i — $1,600
The advertisement says: “High miles but with lots of maintenance. Some rust. Some dents mostly in drivers side door. Nice interior. Good heat and AC. Has 213,000 miles. Had head gasket done at 180000. Has new radiator, reservoir, brakes have 30,000 miles on them. No leaks, smoke. One strut makes some noise. All lights work.”
2001 Volvo C70 Coupe — $2,000
The advertisement says: “2001 Volvo c70 ht coupe, 153k, 5 cylinder turbo, it needs a fender and headlight, it does have an exhaust leak it is not really loud, wouldn’t hurt to put on 2 front tires, the hood release cable just recently broke so there is 2 little cables by each headlight to release the hood, it does have a brand new radiator and battery, there has been a lot of work done to this car (noted in pictures). It is a sharp quik little car and good on gas, just needs a little love. I have taken it to Wisconsin and back a few times with no issues. $2000 obo, need it gone.”
2002 Mercedes-Benz E320 — $1,500
The advertisement says: “Runs very well, drives well, pretty clean for the year. 160k miles. As you can see in the picture on the rear bumper there is a small crack area. Other that that it’s clean. Ready to go, jump in and drive!”
A couple notes:
- None of these sellers know how to take good pictures.
- How much does a strut cost for a 2004 BMW? O’Reilly Auto Parts lists the part at $134.99 (MasterPro) or $211.99 (Monroe).
- When is the last time you saw a non-convertible C70?
