We bought this 1996 Ford Probe SE from my sister yesterday. It comes with the four cylinder engine and a 5 speed manual transmission. What’s it like? Well, according to one source, the engine develops 118 hp. So, it’s not going to win a drag race. But it is very nimble and makes driving around town fun. And tonight when I picked up some neighbor kids for church youth groups, they were excited to ride in such a sporty car. It didn’t matter that the last two Volvos from the dealership had 281 and 311 hp. They liked that it was small, sporty, and had “eyelids” (flip up headlights).
This will be a good car to zip around in, but it’s really not a family car. Taking our three to school each day is fine, but it would be rather awkward to see Jefferson sitting in the back should Sharon want to come along. So, the big questions is: “Shall I keep it or sell it?” The kids are all for keeping it (especially my daughter). But we’ll have to see how things go. I’ve put out a few feelers to see if anyone might be interested in buying or trading for it. But until something happens, I’ll be enjoying the ride to and from work.

I’d like to tell you that I took this picture right before dodging the semi going the wrong way down the highway. But it was actually a truck pulling another truck backwards down I-71. You never know what you’ll see on a three hour trip to Columbus. Yikes!
On our way home from the Great Geauga County Fair, we spotted a two-tone VW Beetle. As we circled around the square to take pictures, the occupants were exiting the car. So at the traffic light, I sent Jefferson scrambling across the square to get permission to take a few pics. When we got there, the owner was more than happy to talk about his car. Skip and his wife Jody gave us the grand tour of their Beetle.
Apparently, the engine was taken from a Transport and rebuilt six years ago. Skip recently installed the rebuild into this car and it fired right up. His goal is to restore Beetles for customers. He also wants to re-market the old Rolls Royce front ends for VW Beetles if possible. Remember those? In any event, if you are interested in connecting with Skip, feel free to contact me for his contact info: me AT andyrupert DOT com.
Jefferson did a pretty good job at picture taking, too!

According to the seller, this 1937 DIVCO Milk Truck has been placed atop a 1986 Chevy Caprice chassis. It comes with a 350 V8, 18″ rims, and a custom interior. That has to be the coolest milk truck I have ever seen. And if I lived near Glen Burnie, Maryland, this would definitely be worth looking into. Imagine driving kids to Sunday School in this!
If your mechanic told you that your timing belt was going to break on a specific day—say May 21, 2011—you might be a bit skeptical. How could anybody know the exact time at which it would fail? Even so, you would probably check your owner’s manual to see when it should be replaced. Not being prepared for that would be disastrous to your car’s engine … and your bank account.

If a radio preacher told you that Jesus would come back on a specific day—say May 21, 2011—you might be a bit skeptical as well. How could anybody know the exact time of Jesus’ return? Didn’t Jesus say that nobody knows the day or hour of his return? Even so, you should probably check the Bible to see when you should be ready. Not being prepared for Jesus’ return would be disastrous to you and your family.
For more information, read what Jesus said about the end times in Matthew 24.

With its air-cooled rear engine, rear drive layout and beautiful design, the Chevy Corvair is one of those cars that I’ve always liked. But I’d never thought about its competition in the 1960′s until I watched this six minute instructional video for car salesmen. The video explains point by point why the Chevy Corvair is a better car than … are you ready for this … the Ford Mustang. That seems a bit of a stretch but you should watch the video. Maybe you’ll change your mind.
